GROW INVOLVED ON MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY |

Join Children for Children/Youth HandsOn Network on January 18 for the Eighth Annual Grow Involved on Martin Luther King Jr. Day Event in New York City.
Sponsored by The Citi Foundation, the event will bring together children of all ages as well as adult volunteers from various corporations and community organizations to participate in a day of hands-on service. Projects included making fleece scarves for the homeless, knitting blankets for infants, painting murals for local schools, and assembling school supply kits for transitional youth. The 2010 Grow Involved on Martin Luther King Day will be held in two Locations: Martin Luther King High School, 122 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY Both events will run from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public and engages youth volunteers in hands-on service projects to benefit the community and those in need. Join us and more than 2,500 youth & family volunteers at two Manhattan locations for a day of service and giving that honors Dr. King’s legacy of community activism. Children, teens and families welcome—including school groups. A Dream World will feature service activities for our youngest volunteers, ages 6 and under. Kids and teens are also invited to enter our MLK Day Creative Expression Contest, honoring Dr. King through poetry, art, or other creative media (Submissions due Monday, Jan. 11). Grow Involved on Martin Luther King Jr. Day kicks off a semester of service that culminates with National Volunteer week and Global Youth Service Day in April.
