CFC provides a continuum of youth-service projects and free curricula that span the full breadth of development - from early childhood through high school. Many of CFC's program toolkits, guides, and lesson plans are available online. In order to download these select materials, CFC asks that you register your name and provide us with information in the form that appears when you click on the selected links. The information collected will help CFC provide better support and technical assistance for those using the materials at school and in the community. Grow Involved® Classroom Kits are CFC's classroom-based service-learning tool that helps teachers enhance core curriculum points while empowering children to identify concerns and become agents of positive change.
Building Healthy Communities (BHC) is an after-school service-learning program that teaches students about the importance of eating well and encourages children to become active in the fight against obesity. CFC Club is an after-school initiative for students in grades three through six to create their own service learning project by identifying and addressing a specific community need.
"Be the Change" NY is a new initiative to re-engage recently incarcerated youth in their community through service-learning.
Grow Involved® for the Holidays offers easy to implement service-learning lesson plans and activities for 25 school closing days.
Celebrations™ helps parents and teachers introduce the concept of helping others during milestone celebrations such as birthdays, bar and bat mitzvahs, and graduations.
September 11 Service-Learning Lesson Plans created by Children for Children for use in conjunction with the National September 11 Memorial Museum's "The Spirit of Volunteerism: 9/11 and Beyond" Commemorative Resources.
CFC's Sweat for Nets® educates children, families, youth groups, and classrooms on the importance of insecticide-treated bed nets in preventing the spread of malaria, and helps them develop methods of raising awareness and funds from their community in order to purchase bed nets for their at-risk peers around the world.
Panwapa is a Worldwide Kids Initiative designed to engage and inspire children to become global citizens. Panwapa comes from the people behind Sesame Street and is produced in partnership with the Merrill Lynch Foundation. Panwapa and Children for Children have teamed up together to provide new opportunities to explore global citizenry in a fun way.
Youth Leadership Groups The CFC Youth Planning Committee (YPC) is the youth leadership arm of CFC. This diverse group of students meet twice each month to brainstorm, prepare and implement service events. The Children's Action Board provides structured volunteer opportunities for kids of all ages to participate in and track their service hours. Service Events
CFC's Service Project of the Month offers opportunities for service projects each month. Activities are designed to promote creativity and civic engagement and include decorating scarves for seniors and making craft kits for hospitalized children. Lesson plans are available online for download. Grow Involved® on MLK, Jr. Day, CFC's signature event brings together thousands of young volunteers to keep Dr. King's message of service alive each year. Global Youth Service Day brings together thousands of young New Yorkers in a global day of service planned and lead by youth. CFC serves as a lead agency in coordination with Youth Service America. Corporate Volunteering with Kids program engages employees who work alongside young volunteers, teaching them about giving back and making a difference in their communities. The program provides volunteer opportunities for large and small groups, and includes service fairs to book drives and school makeovers. CFC Online Resources
Kids for Community® is CFC's free online database of youth volunteer opportunities for New York which allows young people and their families to search for service opportunities that fit best with their individual interests and schedules. Grants and Giving
CFC's Annual Fund Grants Program, from the contributions by children through the Celebrations Program provides resources to schools that have strong leadership and 80% or more of the students qualifying for the Free Lunch Program. Teacher's Aid Program was founded with support from the Heckscher Foundation for Children and recognizes dedicated teachers with smaller grants. About Downloading CFC Resources
